Romain Grosjean: “We are stronger”

Romain Grosjean believes that his Haas team should not suffer the same air hole as last season after the summer break

After eleven Grands Prix on 20, Haas has already scored more points than on the whole of the last season (29 against 28). But in 2016, after a good first part of the season, the American team, due to lack of sufficient developments, had completely collapsed. A misadventure that should not recur this year, according to Romain Grosjean. “We are stronger than last year,” he said in an interview for the official F1 website. True, we are already thinking about the 2018 car, but as the changes will be less profound, we can still work on that of this season. We can better deal with it, make more strategic choices, so we should score more than 29 points in 2017. ”
“I am proud of what we have accomplished”
The Frenchman nevertheless explains that there is still an area where his stable is perfectible: “The tires! We do not fully understand them yet. Sometimes we are in the right window of use, sometimes not. Sometimes everything works well, without knowing why, and sometimes not, without knowing why either. And the window where we can get the most out of it is very close. ”

Grosjean also mentioned his re-appointment for 2018 at Haas: “It was not a big surprise for me, I have been aware since September 2015 (smile). The team is working well, and I want to help it become even stronger. Of course, if one day I have the opportunity to become world champion, I will grab it, but the stars have to be well aligned to get into the right team at the right time. Life can be full of surprises. Look at Valtteri (Bottas), his destiny changed in a few days last December. But for the moment I’m fine where I am, I’m part of a big project and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished. “
